Education is a pillar and a basic foundation of independent livings. Education propel the socio-economic, political and cultural development of every person regardless of their race, sex and status in the society. As a result, the governments of Ghana and various stakeholders are devising all available means and resources to achieve universal access to educational, yet, majority of Ghanaian rural children still don’t have access to education while others are studying under unfavorable environment.

One of the affected areas is the East Mamprusi Municipality in the North East Region.  About 90% of children from the minority communities located along the eastern corridor part of the municipality lack access to education.

To help address this, Independent Minds Association (IMA) an advocacy and development organization is undertaking a project dubbed “Rural Education Care (EDU-Care)” project which seeks to mobilize community and individual resources to establish community-based schools, and hence increase access to education among deprived children.

So far, the organization has established three basic school at Nanyeri, Toak and Mozio. This has increase access to education among 950 children, made of 415 boys and 535 girls.

The organization also supported the construction of 2 no.  three-unit classrooms, build with mud and roofed with zinc in Kulgona and Nanyeri. This will enable the children to study under safe condition.
