RACED Ghana, in partnership with Yendi Youth Connect, is taking steps to restore degraded landscapes in the Yendi Municipality through the Green Yendi Initiative. This effort focuses on tree planting and environmental conservation in strategic locations, including streets, public spaces, and historically significant sites.
With a strong commitment to climate action and environmental protection, RACED Ghana works closely with the Forestry Commission of Ghana and other experts to support sustainable reforestation efforts. By leveraging technical guidance from experienced forestry professionals and consultants, we aim to promote long-term environmental sustainability while creating economic opportunities through eco-tourism.
Restoring the Adibo Dali Battlefield and Other Public Spaces
One of the key focus areas of the Green Yendi Initiative is the Adibo Dali Battlefield, a historic site that has experienced environmental degradation. RACED Ghana and Yendi Youth Connect have planted indigenous tree species to help restore the area and protect it from further deterioration.
The long-term vision is to develop the site into an eco-tourism park, ensuring that its historical significance is preserved while also providing economic benefits to the local community. Through this initiative, we hope to contribute to sustainable land use and encourage responsible tourism in the region.
Collaboration with the Forestry Commission and Technical Experts
While RACED Ghana does not have an in-house forestry team, we maintain strong partnerships with the Forestry Commission of Ghana and independent consultants who provide technical expertise in tree selection, land restoration, and sustainable forest management. These partnerships help ensure that our tree-planting efforts are well-planned, effective, and sustainable.
Through this collaboration, we receive:
-
Technical advice on tree species selection and planting methods
-
Guidance on post-planting care and monitoring of tree growth
-
Support in engaging local communities in forest conservation efforts
Our approach emphasizes community involvement, ensuring that local stakeholders play an active role in protecting and maintaining newly planted trees.
Commitment to Climate Action and Environmental Conservation
At RACED Ghana, we recognize the urgent need to restore degraded ecosystems and build climate resilience. Our efforts align with Ghana’s national reforestation strategies and contribute to broader global goals of environmental sustainability.
We are committed to:
-
Supporting tree planting and afforestation initiatives in degraded areas
-
Raising awareness about climate change and the importance of forest conservation
-
Engaging communities in sustainable environmental practices
By working with local organizations, government agencies, and development partners, we continue to explore ways to scale up reforestation efforts and promote sustainable land management practices.
The Green Yendi Initiative is an important step toward restoring degraded landscapes and promoting environmental sustainability in the Yendi Municipality. With the support of the Forestry Commission of Ghana, technical consultants, and local stakeholders, RACED Ghana is committed to playing a meaningful role in climate action and reforestation efforts.
As we continue to expand our work in forest conservation, we welcome more partnerships and support to scale up these efforts and build a greener, more resilient future for Ghana.
